In the heart of the Great Rift Valley there is the National Park Lake Bogoria. This is an impressive place - a mirror-like water surface often turns into a pink bubbling foam. This impression is created due to the fact that a thousand-thousand cloud of pink flamingos flies to the lake. They feed on blue-green algae, multiplying here in large numbers. Also, the nutrient medium for flamingos are small mollusks and crustaceans living in mud on the steep banks of the reservoir.

Birds have chosen Lake Bogoria, despite the fact that the water contains a large amount of alkali and salt. Without natural runoff, the lake loses most of the water during the evaporation, and therefore the residual water is almost twice as solous as the sea water. They feed the lake with rains and more than 200 underground springs.

The largest number of geysers in Africa is located here. The territory of the park is volcanically active and the lake is covered with bubbling boilers of hot springs. Water is unsuitable for drinking, it is highly mineralized. However, local tribes use it to treat skin diseases. They call the thermal springs of Lake Bogoria "places of healing."

On the eastern side of the reservoir, the banks rise with walls of steep slopes, and the southern coast is covered with delicate vegetation from acacias and fig trees. Under their shadow graceful antelope kudu are delayed. In addition to these, gazelles, zebras and baboons live in this area, and besides flamingos, there are even more than 135 species of birds.

This is truly a fascinating realm of geysers, thermal springs and a variety of birds that will leave an impression for a long time.
